Shôya Ishida is the boss of his class.
Terror of the playground, he does the 400 blows with his classmates.

His daily life at school will be upset by the arrival of a new pupil, Shôko Nishimiya, who is deaf.

At first from a polite indifference, Shôya will start to inflict small humiliations on Shôko.
